Busy, Busy, Busy....help!

When it comes to color--I'm changeable like the weather. When asked, I say "It just depends...."

So when I decided to take the plunge and curate my OWN treasury, my very first one, I decided that my very first theme would be Primary Colors: RED, YELLOW, BLUE.

Pulling it together wasn't as hard as I feared so now, dear readers, I invite you (beg you) to please, Please, PLEASE click on this image or link, to visit my actual collection (and leave a comment if you desire.) I really appreciate your support!

But I'm just warming up! My studio is strewn with "experiments" from this past week since my move back to my home studio. Being back with all my "stuff" I'm like a kid in a candy shop and need to calm down my ADHD here soon, focus, solve a few problems, and follow through. But I'll do that later. Today, I'm jumping the gun to share more of my "in progress work" here....

New experiments: Knotted glass beads focal on silk.

You know, I just never ever know where an idea will come from and when things are going well, they just sort of pop into my head. Then it's up to me to decide if it's worth looking at further, or if it's better filed away for later...or if it's a total dud.

I'm pretty excited by this new necklace invention though there are still a few bugs to work out.....Can you imagine this with a holiday dress, blouse or sweater? The way they work right now is the silk side straps are adjustable for a necklace that goes from 18" to about 28" all with sliding beads and knots on the sides.

More views: Crocheted artisan silk and dyed quartz multi-strand necklaces.

I hinted at this new form the other day and wanted to show other views and colors....I'm pretty sure I've got the side straps figured out and so, hopefully, after I add a few more colors and work out the last critical details, these will be ready to offer. My challenge was to make these necklaces really adjustable in length, so that they could really be worn different ways. It wasn't quite as easy as I had hoped, but I'm almost there!

So best wishes for a fun and safe weekend of Halloween parties and pranks--watch out for the werewolves! Thanks for dropping by....

I Dream in Full Color!

I am both trained and naturally inclined to be super sensitive to color. I love color and can't imagine a world without it.

But I truly was shocked to awaken from a dream the other morning only to remember the intense doses of color that had intruded my dream! Picture this: I had drawers and cupboards with lots and lots of really colorful....underwear! It was glorious!

I had all these beautiful brassieres in bright red, blue, green, peach, pink, purple...the piles went on and on, one discovery after the next, each more beautiful than the one before. It was quite astonishing, in retrospect! And it was so real...the details of the laces and satin straps, the equally colorful panties. Imagine my disappointment to awaken....to my rather dull pile of tank tops used for summer camping. Oh well, it was both a lovely dream and a wonderful affirmation that YES, I DO dream in color!!

But wait, then my dream went on to offer me a more useful nudge. I've been mentally designing some new bracelets for fall. Richly textured, multi-strand pieces but constructed in a different way than my current silken chain wrap pieces. I've ordered a few supplies. I was (and am) still in the fermenting stages, when the ideas all mix it up in order to take on enough shape in my mind so that I can pick up some materials and begin to experiment.

Well darn it all anyway, there in my dream were some finished pieces, some new bracelets all ready to go. I was quite surprised to see that I had done all that work and again, there was so much wonderful COLOR!! I was very happy with my new work, my new designs....

....and then, I had to wake up and realize that no, there were no finished bracelets. No, no colorful lingerie. It was all just one beautiful, colorful dream....truth be told? It left me smiling all day long!

New Week, New Theme: Color!

Maybe you saw the glimmer of my new week's theme yesterday, with lots of nice strong clear color? OK, I admit it was accidental, but it got me thinking that after green comes (flowers) lots of color. And it's really the direction so many of my newest pieces have been going.

Now, I've got a new bunch of amazing flowers to share here. I got lucky. Picking up some groceries a couple of days ago, they were unpacking a newly arrived box of bouquets...and I was the first one there.

It was so exciting to watch the guy cut the top of the box open and peel back the cardboard...and packed inside, all ready to pop into the bouquet displays, were at least a dozen new bunches...each prettier than the next.

And such a wonderful variety of blooms, including a lot of varieties known to be long lasting cut flowers. Oh, a few dicey ones were in the bunch. Blossoms I know seem to decay quickly and contaminate the water (which in turn leads to the early demise of the whole bouquet.)

But one thing I did learn from this bouquet, which I hope to keep around and enjoy for awhile, is there are a couple of wonderful chrysanthemum varieties...that I'd love to add to the gardens around here to enjoy next fall!

These bi-color mums, in particular. They really are just stunning!
Happy Monday to everyone!
