I Think the New Kitty has a New Name
The list of name suggestions for my new kitten was just amazing and I'm going to list all the ideas that came my way here first. Heck, maybe it will be a useful cheat sheet for someone in a similar predicament to mine. It really does demonstrate a wealth of ideas, different cultures, different takes on naming pets:
Patches
Billy the Kid
Janos
Willow
Omen
Amore
Andy (as in Raggedy Andy)
Tiger Lily
Little Casanova
Snuggles
Lluna (Moon)
Pinkle Purr (and a wonderful Poem from A. Milne) *
Domino *
Neptune
Scrooby
Socrates
Minsk
Teddy-Bee
Nefertiri
Mumry
Fluffy
Blotchy
Ink-Blotch
Inky
Puff (Short for "CreamPuff")
Pepper (because he is "Salt & Pepper")
Carl
Smudge
Bow-tie
Beau
Twilight
Harry
Licorice
Snowy
Snowball
Night&Day
Starry
Cotton
Bandit
River
Frizzy
Domino (a second time!)
Sand N Pepper (2nd time!)
Pepper
Rumble
Willy
Billy (2nd time!)
Finch
Atticus
Tucker
Cookie
Sebastian
Zinger
Rocker
Rocket
OK, so the name I pretty sure I'm giving to the cutie-pie isn't on this list...because I basically invented it when it just kind of popped out of my mouth (more on that in a minute.) But there were definitely two runner-ups here, for very different reasons, and I've decided to offer 1/2 of my prize (a gift certificate worth $10 good in either of my two shops) to each of these.
Domino was a very serious contender for a couple of days (Thank you Poetic Shutterbug!) I liked the image, I liked that it had 3 syllables, which seems to be a pet-name-theme here right now, and I have no idea why, it just happened! And then, it turned up a 2ND time, so there must be something about the name and the cat?
The 2ND runner up is Sheila Sultani because her suggested poem, by A. A. Milne, included a kitten's name of Pinkle Purr--which is a segway into (and a close contender in its own right) the name I invented for the little guy (plus, as luck would have it, it also has 3 syllables):
Purrmeister OR Purr Meister
That's right, he's the master or maestro of purr. I tested this out with my nieces and nephews over the holiday (ages 6, 8, 11 and 13) and it was a hit with them (I didn't expect that, to be honest!) And the kitten was a huge hit, too, as you can imagine whenever you put kids and baby animals together....
So, dear readers, I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for a goldmine of good ideas! And for the winners? Drop me a note if you wish to claim your prize at WillOaksStudio (at) aol.com and we'll work things out from there! I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving and you should know, I'm thankful for each and every one of YOU!! XXX
