Nope, Not Weeds At All!
Lilies are IN SEASON...and no, I don't have the "weedy" problems with these beauties. In fact, it's a different sort of problem...I sort of hoard them. Well, that's not quite the right word, but I went through a phase, over several years, when I "had to have" as many as I could get.
Don't worry, I'm OK now. And I don't fuss and fret over them anymore either (as a result, they have become much healthier. Imagine that!) But in the day, I joined a couple of lily societies. I subscribed to lily journals and email lists. I went to shows to look and to trade. Ooooh, I had it bad!
But moving from Iowa to Illinois, it was not possible to actually dig and move them all. So I took a few of each, replanted them, and began to relax. The ones that were sturdy made it. The ones that were too fussy didn't make it. And there are just enough. They poke up their lovely blossoms in their season. They are all mixed up with lots of other plants, scattered all around, most of the labels are gone now and I only really remember a few of their names. And no, they are not weedy at all. But true confessions? Now I'm sort of into orchids.....uh oh!

Such beauties, they cannot be weeds. And yet sometimes weeds can be beautiful too. These lily shots are simply beautiful; I love the first one especially because of the bright yellow color.
And I like orchids too. Is it possible to grow orchids over your side? I was at the National Orchid Garden of Singapore a few months back and I had many opportunities to take photos of different varieties of orchids. But I only took a few types.

Beautiful! I love the colors.
Beautiful!!! I love lilies, maybe I'll have to find a place to plant some next year!
Wow, these are gorgeous shots! I especially like those cream ones, although all are so nice. :o)
The colors are beautiful, especially the red and orange flowers with a hint of purple behind them. Lovely photos!
They really are an outstanding flower...what great photos and how nice to inherit a beautifully tended garden (~I'm thinking of the people that moved into your home in Iowa :))
I've sent a lovely blog award your way. Please stop my blog when you get a chance to pick it up!

What gorgeous lilies! They're in season where I live right now too. I'm renting a basement apartment, so I have to resist the urge to cut them for myself. Must share with my neighbor. I missed a spectacular display of peonies this year. I've nothing to display them in. Maybe I'll pluck some lilacs. I love their scent.
These different colors are all so exciting. Fantastic closeups.
gorgeous! are lilies a hardy flower? do they need sun or some shade?
Outstanding photos! Have you considered either selling your pics or putting them on deviantart as stock images?
How great that so many blogging friends find my lilies to be a "good look!" Artsnark...thanks for the compliment!! No, but I did shoot a wedding for money last summer. PJ...they need at least 6 hours of sun a day, some may need a bit more. daphenne--and we have a few more weeks of different lilies still to come. Sweetwater...so sad, they bulldozed the house and reclaimed the land for farming during the corn-ethanol craze. Audrey...lilies are really easy to grow so do try some-they are planted in the Fall for best results. Symphony, the orchids you shared are just wonderful! Here, they are houseplants only. And to everyone, thanks so much for enjoying my photos and for your kind remarks!
The moles won't let me grow any of these, but I have a lot of day lilies. Lovely pics!
People who like flowers are very loving!! I suppose you are!
I love lilies as well, though I don't have nearly as many as you do :)
I wanted to let you know I've left an award for you on my blog
Bye for now,
Jane
I love lillies.
