Almost Weeds-Too Much of a Good Thing

I must laugh at myself when I remember carefully planting two or three new baby plants of most of these flowers some years ago. Then nurturing them to try to fill what seemed like vast expanses of open soil. This group of plants is "almost" weeds because they've become TOO successful!! And I missed the Spring opportunity to either thin some out or dig up extra volunteers to trade with or give to other gardener friends in the neighborhood.

Many self-seed too prolifically for a "normal" garden. Others multiply at the base to become huge colonies AND self-seed. Although individually, most are quite desirable--even beautiful--it's too much of a good thing and frankly, it's kind of a mess. Many areas have truly "gotten away from me" and I have no master plan for what I can do next....but hopefully, I'll come up with something to tame this crazy "front yard"....next year?

Beautiful shots! I love the second one especially, because of the bright yellow color of the flower.

Beautiful flowers! I can see the bee flying in the first photo!

I used to have bellflowers and daisies and they eventually drove me crazy with their self seeding ang underground spreading! Pretty...but difficult to contain!

My wife would say leave them just as they are. They are beautiful. Very good photo's. I love the Bee.

I love the sunflowers and daisies more than any others, they are happy flowers that make people smile when they see them.

So pretty! I love the one of the bee and cone flowers, too. I tried to get a bee on mine yesterday but I wasn't ready and missed my shot. My front flower bed is in the same state but I think it looks pretty and lush. I'll worry about it next year :o)

Oh, I always like to come here to see your lovely flower photos. And yes, I have the same problems with my "flowers"--they become almost weedy in their insistence to take over!

Your photos are lovely! I have the opposite problem, my flowers tend not to grow!

Absolutely gorgeous. I am green with envy! I tend the weeds here if they have flowers, with the exception of the thistle and the locoweed. Otherwise, if it is green and has flowers, it can stay, including the dandelions because the horses, llamas and bunnies love them! Thank you for sharing your garden.
