The numbers of flying bits were huge, and the activity was frenetic: too fast, in fact, to fully focus on any one individual.
Were they tiny moths? Perhaps some sort of May fly? Some other exotic and very briefly lived flying insect?
I do not have an answer yet, but I share the various images and perhaps somehow, we can find an ID for this delicate new swarm. The next day, they were gone-all vanished! Did I dream it?
I regret that I have less time for my natural science studies this summer. But I'm hoping that staying focused, for the rest of June, will find the majority of my studio relocated to my new place and at least organized enough to catch up on my work. Moving is hard work--and I have too much stuff which is a down side of being an artist that tends to collect-even hoard-materials. When everything is moved and organized, though, it will be a wonderful time to celebrate! Stay tuned!
Packing the kitchen in progress--and most of it was moved Monday, hooray! One down, how many to go?

the natural world is so freaky!
It really is!! A constantly changing wonder!
Curious! Meanwhile, good luck getting it all done!
could your little white insects possibly be wooly aphids? I've seen them before and they almost appear to be little bits of fuzzy floating around
Thanks, Nancy--good luck would be very appreciated right now
I don't know that one Ann-do they swarm like this? Here, regular aphids are quite a pest!
So cool! Love the wonders that inhabit ponds :)
Lovely photos, Karen.
