Fresh from the Bench
It's always amazing to me. When I get a bit fixated on some material (silk) and some technique or process (crochet) I often stick with it, just to see where and how far it will go. Of course, I only can handle this "exploration" when it's really generating a lot of the "what would happen if I...." kinds of thoughts and ideas. It seems to be happening now and although these pieces and photos aren't quite ready for prime time yet, I thought I'd offer a peek of what I'm doing (in between various and sundry farm, garden and campground duties--hey, it's supposed to RAIN tomorrow, hallelujah!)
In fact, it was pretty interesting how this structure started. A customer contacted me and asked what I could do with a small set of pearls that were on a broken necklace she had. She had already bought one of the long silk and pearl pieces and wondered what I could do along those lines. Amazingly, an idea popped right into my head and I wrote to describe what I thought I could do for her. She approved and mailed me her broken necklace. Unfortunately, her piece had been constructed in such a way that I still have not been able to salvage her pearls....it seems I need a special chemical to try to dissolve a bunch of epoxy glue that is gumming up the holes for stringing.
Not to worry, I searched through my own stash here, found some pearls that were quite similar and put together the piece I had dreamed up for her. I liked the way it turned out so well, I started to experiment with the same structure in a few different sizes, colors and different pearl choices, such as I've illustrated here, just to see what would happen. Then I wore one to a function I attended early this week, and it was very comfortable and easy to wear.
Now, two little challenges....the light here has been all wrong for photography all week, both indoors and outside....so I am waiting for a chance to take better photos than these. Second is a sort of time deficit, which I guess could become a chronic condition for awhile as there is a lot happening here right now....
That's OK, I'll sneak into the studio when I can and do as much as time permits in between my other duties and responsibilities. I'm in that mode now where "everything that is important will eventually be taken care of...."
Happy Friday everyone!

The simplicity of this style is very effective. I love those iridescent grey/green/purple pearls in the top pic.
gorgeous. They have such a clean feel- really nice.
Pretty...
These are so pretty and dainty. I really like them.

Hey thanks so much for all your feedback!! They really are dainty looking, for sure, but the weight of the pearls is just right for keeping them hanging right....and again, the silk is practically "not there!"
I was thinking the same as Duni but couldn't quite put it into words. She's right though about the simplicity. That pink one caught my eye right away.
I'm a pink kind of gal..sooooooo....:)))..they're gorgeous!!
I like how light and airy these are! Very pretty. And I'm with you on the time deficit--yikes, there aren't enough hours in the day!
Those necklaces are so pretty!
