Exuberant Orchids

A few weeks ago, I photographed the beginning of new buds for a couple of orchids I acquired last winter. They are a type of orchid that I haven't grown before and I bought them out of bloom because they were so much less expensive this way. I got 4 new plants and now, two of them are in full, glorious bloom and I'm just thrilled! What a special treat even as the darkness comes so early and lasts so much longer each day.

It's good to see these this time of year. I don't plant my own flowers, I just look at the wild ones that grow, so I have to wait til next spreing to see more.

Those are gorgeous. I am so bad with plants. A green thumb I do not have. :)

I am so jealous! My brother and I had a challenge to see who could grow orchids successfully...he died before he could prove his ability (melanoma cancer). I tried one more time after he died and just gave it up. I didn't want to be responsible for yet another orchid death! Good job! Absolutely stunning orchids!

I tried and failed.

I like the purple-y ones - So don't have a green thumb. Plus I have 3 cats and can't have flowers or any greenery in the house, unless I suppose I could suspend them from the ceiling - the plants, not the cats.

Gorgeous! I have no luck with orchids - tried twice. I love how you photographed them against the neutral grey background, makes the flower's colors sing:)

I saw this type of exotic orchids at the Detroit Conservatory. I love this color, you're great to grow them into this stage!

Beautifully exotic, indeed!
