And here is the final set of photos from the Missouri collection. I'm still awed by how brilliant these colors are because while I was away for about 4 days, almost all the leaves fell off the trees here at WillOaks Farm. I heard we had quite a wind storm while I was in Missouri and the past few weeks, we've had so much rain, a lot of the ground is just plain soggy. Normally, I wouldn't mind as it's so late in the season, but there is one more major task to finish here and it requires some heavy equipment: we need to do some very serious pruning on a few very large trees here. We're trying to save them, or at least save the valuable shade they offer. But until the ground is more solid again, there's just no way to bring in the trucks needed to take care of this job.
Dakota and I took a walk all around the campground earlier today. One friend of mine was out there deer hunting (with his bow) to try to put food on his table for winter. Most of the trees were quite leafless. The feeling was quiet and peaceful, a far cry from the busy season. And so far, the geese are flying over but NOT landing on the pond--and for this, I'm thankful.

Our trees here just lost their leaves to a huge storm last night. It seems as if this years fall theme has been yellow up until now though.
Now these look more like what we have here - gold and yellows. I love the orange and red ones best though. Thank you for sharing all these beautiful photos - I miss seeing the different colors of Autumn! Hugs my friend.

Almost over??? Grrr. Sadly you are right. I feel like we just got it though. Fall has to be the most rushed season, as you are wishing it away to see those brilliant colors and then they are gone in an instant.
Hunting with a bow sounds really interesting. I've got family in PA who do it, but with guns. That's always seemed a bit unfair to me. Somehow a bow sounds more...right.
These fall colors are just breathtaking.
Trees are so worthy a cause. They give us such beauty and a peak into a realm not of this earth in their creation. By pruning them, you are nurturing nature. How wonderful!
Those colors are really something! Ours have been more muted this year.
