Fall Colors (Central Missouri)

I see I might want to give a little background about Italy since I keep pulling those photos into the mix here for Wordless Wednesdays. It was an adventure I had just a year ago and I will give an overview here soon, just not on Wordless Wednesdays! I figure I'll be winding down topical photos as winter fully moves in here and then, so it's not just writing and photos about all my new pieces all the time, I'll need to insert a few good tales and interesting photos. So do stay tuned for these features!

Meanwhile, I promised to continue with the spectacular fall colors I captured last weekend. I feel like I'm playing with a box of crayons here. The Missouri hills and bluffs were quite brilliant, even if the weather was kind of gray. I saw that the "mixed woods" really could offer quite a colorful tapestry while some of the individual plants were truly amazing colors.

It's quite challenging to get photos of the landscape when one is driving. There's often no place to pull over safely when a beautiful vista is sighted, and even when I did pull over, walking wasn't always very safe. So I regret there were some amazing images that I missed and that would take better planning in the future to do justice too. But I did capture a lot of lovely color and have divided the collection into three days worth. Enjoy!

I, too, hate to miss great pix in the car. I missed a truly awesome opportunity this summer because I was 1- in the car, and 2- the camera batteries were dead. Hey, what is that tree with the blue bubblegum all over it?

Absolutely gorgeous photos. The colors are so different from what we have here in the mountains! Thank you for sharing them.

Wow, these photographs just jump right off your blog. Beautiful. We don't have the same beauty where I live in California. Have to travel to see this kind of spectacular fall colors.

Will await the Italy posting. It's one place I want to visit.

Have a terrific day. :)

They are indeed like a box of crayon! Love the range of colors. Especially the blue one.

I'm hoping to get some of my own central MO shots of Fall next weekend when I go home to see the folks. I'm hoping the colors hold out for me. I just blogged yesterday about the various shades of gray we've been seeing all month in MO.

The colors are stunning. It is small wonder so many artists have tried to capture this in paintings. Glorious!

Love your crayola captures :)
We had a bit of a drive last weekend and I tried to take pictures but with rain on the windshield they didn't turn out so hot. Your pictures are beautiful.

Aren't we all getting an eye full of the different states and their beautiful fall foliage, from Illinois, Missouri to Rhode Island...your photos continue to be simply stunning...:))

I think you get the best fall colors though when the sky backdrop is grey. If it's raining, it brings out the darkness of the tree trunks and something about it seems to brighten the colors.
