One of my Christmas Cactuses exploded recently, and I've been meaning to post the pictures. My cat had knocked off one of the braches (branches is probably the wrong term...) so I put it in water until it rooted a bit, and then stuck it in some soil. Not only is it doing well, it bloomed. I was SO excited! It just goes to show, when all hope seems lost, don't give up and you might just get a beautiful result. :)
I got a Christmas cactus years ago and it bloomed twice a year every year. That is until last year when I nearly killed it by not remembering to water it. It's still hanging on by a thread but since I have a brown thumb it's survival is not likely
