That Was a Marathon!

Prepping the LAST BATCH of orders for Christmas 2009 Priority Mail!

Heaven knows I've done my share of last minute shopping, wrapping and preparing--in fact, I'm starting this year's duties today! BUT this was the first time my shop worked to FILL these kinds of orders. My cut-off was Noon on Monday because a bit later that afternoon was the cut-off for Priority Mail with Christmas Eve delivery...we hope!! The past two days, since I posted my little Christmas card have been really intense and it was such a relief to finish preparing all those late orders and get them down to the Post Office.

My morning was strange--I had to take the kitten to the vet. Although it had been originally scheduled as a check up & distemper booster, the kitten threw up yesterday morning...and there was a big worm in it. I couldn't believe my eyes, and then I nearly fainted! And since I seemed to recall that fun fact about how "contagious" worms are, I took Mariah along, to the vet, too. She's just too difficult to give meds to and I had a feeling all the cats would be getting a dose of something. Sure enough, they have all been "dosed" now and I've got my "duties" over the next couple of days...I hope this works!

Other fun facts I'll share as the week moves on: more orchids in bloom; they picked the corn fields, finally; and say a little prayer for me because I've got to do my once a year baking thingy. I'm thinking about taking photos because I'm kind of lame in the kitchen--I get roped into these things because I forget how to say "no."

Happy Solstice everyone! That is, Welcome to Winter AND to the days getting longer again! Hooray!

Wow, busy busy you!!! Sounds like you need to take a break and put your feet up. But, all that is good though because it means business is good. Sorry to hear the new kitten wreaked havoc on the household! Hopefully they will get through it soon- medicating any cat is never fun!

Hope you can get some well-deserved rest and that the kitties get well!
I have had a simliar experiences with the cats when they roam the woods in summer and hunt mice and birds. They get worms.
Good for your that you took them to the vet.

Congrats on getting orders out on time. Sounds like you've had a good selling season.

Best wishes
Anna

Worms are really common, I'm just sorry that they didn't automatically treat him. Oh what fun! Cats LOVE medicine. Ugh.

Hooray for all the last minute orders! Glad you got them all shipped out and hopefully they'll get to their destinations in time for Christmas.

Glad you got everybody dewormed. We've only had worms once here - in our toy poodle puppy right after we got her. We don't generally have parasite problems here but her "parents" came from Florida and her momma must have had the worms and passed them on to her. Ugh...that WAS disgusting!

I was doing the happy dance on the Winter Solstice because now each day will be just a little longer than the day before and I LOVE the daylight! Maybe my motivation will finally come back home where it belongs.

Merry Christmas to you and yours!
