Shades of Orange

Although the garden lilies were finished a couple of weeks ago, their wild cousins came into their glory just about a week ago. Both a wild true lily and a wild day lily in rich shades of orange rose above the grasses and weeds in the untamed parts of the campground.

It made me wonder about the color orange in nature, whether this brilliant contrast in a sea of green, was a strategy for pollination? At any rate, I never cared too much for the color orange until I began to appreciate these wild beauties. Now, in line with this inspiration, there are new pieces in progress on the work bench here that incorporate both carnelian and red agate as a wearable version of rich warm orange.

On another note, a sincere thank you to everyone who voted for my blog and an invitation to folks who didn't yet to click on this link to cast a vote for WillOaks Studio as a "best blog" in the "other" category. Voting is open until the end of September, so please bear with me if I mention it a few more times!

And on the subject of supporting fellow bloggers, the folks at Vanilla Seven are also participating in a best of blog vote for Nuffnang Blogger Awards Contest. I encourage you to check their blog of beautiful photography, and please cast a vote for them by following the directions posted here. One set of directions for readers to vote, another for fellow bloggers who wish to get a little more involved and earn some linky love and EC credits. Go ahead, check this out!

I don't particularly care for orange flowers, but I love the form with these. They are vivid, yet still delicate.

I just wanted to let you know I'm on my way to vote - but I had to let you know how stunning your pictures are. I LOVE these - lilies are my favorite, but even your other pictures lately have been awesome. Thanks for sharing them. I don't have a garden, so it's nice to see the flowers others have. I could look at these pics all day! xx

Oh, meowee! Those are gorgeous. Did you know that the www.photohunters.com theme for tomorrow is Orange....at least I think that's what it said over there, you may want to double check. Anyway, just wanted to say "hey". Entrecard is being whacky and I'm not able to drop for some reason?! Anyway, I'll be back to drop if they get it figured out today.

I've always been fascinated with your pairing of flowers and jewelry. Not sure if it is intentional or subconscious for you, but, I really want to do a post (if it is OK with you) on the subject. I would want to run it tomorrow as my Sunday Seller Spotlight post if you agree:)
