Thinking About Advertising-A Visual Challenge

I'm starting to think about changing my tiny ad design and image. I don't have a very long history with this, and was pretty clueless when I started. In fact, about 8 months ago, when I began to realize I needed a tiny 125 pixel square, I had one heck of a time getting something to work. There are several folders here of early efforts--some of them make me laugh now and maybe in due time, I'll post some of the "outtakes" for some chuckles. But eventually, I settled on this one and have happily used it for several months and many ads, etc. now.

A few months ago, I added this one, but haven't used it much yet. I guess I decided that the earlier one was better somehow.

So recently, I decided to see what some of my new pieces/photos might look like squeezed into "my ad" and for now, there are 8 that I'm sort of looking at, randomly clumped into 2 groups here, and sized to something like the tiny size that they'd be viewed...

I welcome any feedback--good bad and ugly--on these efforts! Although I did study art, I was mainly in sculpture, and I didn't study graphics or web design or the like, I've just been sort of stumbling my way through it for the sake of my blog and my little shops.

So lean back, squint your eyes, and then tell me which one or ones JUMP OUT for YOU!! I've often done my best work with a good editor(s).

I was thinking this would be good in some kind of "poll" format...but haven't figured out how to do that little trick yet. Thanks for any ideas here...and yes, "none of the above" is a choice!!

I like the white on white ones the best, but I think the blue and green ones really grab the eye. You have done a great job with all of them!

I like the one with the peridot rondelles. I think the green stands out...

good luck with your choice!

Personally, I love the current one because I think of it as your logo. The piece in it represents your style (IMO) best although my second choice would also be the peridot piece and then after that would be the one below the main one you use. No matter what, your photos are excellent and I'm trying to study yours to achieve better photos.

Great feedback folks!! Thanks so much! Theresa, I really get what you're saying and so am considering keeping the current one where ever it's used as an avatar or logo...but may try a couple of these newer ones in the Project Wonderful context...K

I like the one you currently use because of the white (classy) with a touch of color (to catch your eye). The other solid colors are boring in comparison. Hope that helps. :)

I like the last one in the last grouping and the green in the first grouping for it's styling and color. They are really all good though the model ones are a little too commercial looking. I also love the one you are using now.

I have to say, I think the original one is so much more eye catching than the others. The image looks like it just belongs with the text. The contrast within that necklace is perfect, the size of the pearls are varied giving interest, it's subtle in terms of color which really informs the spirit of your work, AND I think the placement of the necklace in that photo is very pleasing to the eye and makes for a good composition and good flow. I know you probably feel like you need to refresh, but honestly, I don't! Your ad is what attracted me to your blog and made me "stalk you" online. haha. It's very clickable in my opinion.

I love the current one that you are using althought the rest of the proposals also look great!
The one you currently used ensembles the best feature & value of your handmades.
I love the combinations of colours and beads here. Classic yet modern.
Thanks for sharing & your great effort to improve your store image.
I love your photography skill and I am learning from you too:)

Love the current one & the next block of 4. Though I'd like to see the layouts of the top 2 in bright colors - am I making sense?

Yes, I can see two important lessons for me here. First, I accidentally did a good thing with my first "ad." Second, I need to keep working on photos, styling and editing to see if any new image can truly compete with the old one!! Thanks again, I really needed that!
