Eye Candy Sunday

Bouquets and Planters. Two fruits of labor for gardeners and sometimes, the color has just got to make you smile.

These "Purple Wave" petunias are in window boxes and pots here and there around my deck and front door, but this particular planter outgrew the rest...and while it's true and unaltered, the color just doesn't seem quite real!

I didn't grow zinnias this year, but my friend Linda did, and brought me these a few nights ago. I've enjoyed the really bright, fiesta palette in this collection.

My buddy, the Great Blue Heron, that regularly hunts and fishes the edges of the pond here tried a new tack the other evening. I spotted him perched at the edge of our diving raft and since it was nearly dusk, it was tricky to take this hand held...but I had to try.
He seemed to be mostly concerned with preening, not food, but it's rumored that some really large bass live under this raft. Catching these "granddads of the pond" is a challenge and a mission for some of the fishermen. So I think that the heron was taking up the challenge, too.

And later, that same evening, a glorious full moon..again, no tripod, but I used a fence post like last time, and I was thrilled to see the "man in the moon" just faintly showing up in this telephoto shot.

Enjoy and have a happy Sunday!
