Magical Sunrise

There is no need to wake up early on Sunday mornings. I've arranged my week so that Sunday is (usually) one day I can sleep in with no guilt. But for some crazy reason, I did wake up early yesterday and this was the sight that greeted me.

Hoarfrost and sunrise sunbeams, what a fairy tale mixture! And such a fleeting moment as I had no sooner taken some photos and turned my back to wash my face and when I looked again, the ethereal color was gone.

In case anyone is curious why I keep presenting the same or a similar view with only the seasons, weather and colors changing? It's simply because it's a view from the second floor of the house, looking north to the campground, so naturally, I look at it everyday. And if you look closely, back by the trees you'll see the gate to the campground. But to reach it by road isn't an option right now. Maybe by snowmobile or skis but I suspect even a 4 wheel drive would get bogged down in some pretty intense snowdrifts right now.

And an update on that flock of geese: although I still haven't ventured out yet, to see if I can find them, it's apparent they are very local because they were back again briefly today. My guess is there is spilled corn kernels all over that field where they hang out, and otherwise, there's probably not a lot of goose food out there right now.

But hey, it was 0.6 degrees here this morning and as much as some skiing does look appealing with those broad hilly stretches of snow, I just hate to be this cold and I trust, once temperatures get up to about 20 or so, I'll go out and look at what transformations the dead of winter has wrought on WillOaks Farm.

See, it pays to get up early. If I could experience that scene outside my door I would wake up early every morning. These are glorious shots Karen. The first one is just amazing.

Those pictures are just gorgeous. What a wonderful site. I love the mornings, when everything is fresh and at the moment, very cold.

It is magical indeed! I like it even more because, as you say, it lasted a short time. It's unique and priceless.

Wow, no wonder you're taking photos from inside! It's been insanely cold everywhere this week- but that's cold! What a beautiful sight to catch though.

What state is this in? The color of the trees, the snow on the ground, the combination is just so breathtaking. You may have told me this already, if I have, I apologize.
